Barrick Enterprises, Inc. is a family owned and operated company specializing in the sale and delivery of wholesale fuel products. The company was founded in 1977 by Robert Barrick. At that time, Barrick operated two gas station/convenience stores.
Over the next several years, Barrick steadily grew his retail business, owning and operating nine locations. In 1982, Barrick integrated the sale of fuel at the wholesale level, which is now the backbone of the business. In 1989, Barrick Enterprises became a Total Petroleum jobber (now Marathon) which prompted Robert to start his own petroleum transportation company called B&R Trucking, Inc. Today, B&R has a fleet of 14 units and employs 25 people.
Barrick continued to grow its wholesale business by becoming a BP jobber in 1995 and then purchased a bankrupt competitor in 1996 to obtain the Unoven and Citgo jobberships. In 2005, Barrick purchased from BP a package of sites in the Detroit market and then purchased a large Detroit jobber in 2006.
The business expanded once again in the fall of 2009 with the acquisition of numerous BP dealers in the Detroit area. In 2010 Barrick became a Shell jobber, and most recently, acquired the Clark jobbership; bringing a total of six different branding options to its customer base.
